29+ Free Condensed Fonts for Commercial Use
Stating that a font is condensed means that its width is narrower than the normal version.
The condensed font is redesigned from this normal reference. Its angles and proportions are adjusted to avoid any distortion when condensing the font.
A disadvantage of condensed fonts is the loss of legibility, so they need to be used carefully. It is not recommended to use them in large blocks of text, only in headlines and small highlighted phrases.
The advantage of this type of font is in relation to text space, as it can fit many more words in a given space than the normal version. Additionally, condensed fonts have their own personality and can convey a modern and sophisticated look.
Although the term “condensed” refers to the width of the type, some font designs prioritize the height of the character, making it taller than the normal reference and giving the feeling of being more compressed.
See the comparison of the condensed font from the Myriad family compared to the Regular version. Note the difference in the space occupied with all fonts having the same point size.
